Indian Ambassador to Nepal reviews facilities available for Kailash Mansarovar pilgrim

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri visited Nepalgunj and Simikiot to asses facilities available for the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims.

During his three day visit Ambassador Puri met officials, local leaders, representatives of various hotels and guest houses and enquired about boarding and lodging facilities available for the pilgrims.

He visited Simikot district hospital and interacted with the doctors.

Mr. Puri also met some pilgrims returning from Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and asked them about their experiences.

Later talking to DD News correspondent Ambassador Puri said that Simikot is connected through small aircraft only and these planes are not capable to fly in bad weather.

He said during inclement weather pilgrims may have to stay in Simikot for a longer period. Mr Puri said since basic facilities are available in Simikot so patience is required.

Ambassador Puri also said that Simikot is around 10,000 feet above the sea level and there are chances of high altitude sickness especially among elderly pilgrims.

Ambassador Puri said doctors informed him about requirement of constant supply of electricity and oxygen to handle medical emergencies and Indian Embassy will try to help in improving the situation.

Nepalgunj, Simikot and Hilsa route is very popular among Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims as it take laser time and journey is comfortable. More than 10,000 devotees undertake pilgrimage through this route.
