India Joins U.S.-Led ‘Pax Silica’ Coalition on Critical Minerals and AI Supply Chains
New Delhi, February 20: India on Friday signed an agreement to join the U.S.-led Pax Silica coalition, an initiative aimed at building resilient supply chains for critical minerals and artificial intelligence technologies.
The signing ceremony was attended by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and U.S. Envoy to India Sergio Gor, among other officials. The initiative seeks to deepen economic and technological cooperation among partner countries across sectors ranging from raw materials and semiconductors to AI infrastructure.
Launched in December last year, Pax Silica focuses on creating a secure and innovation-driven ecosystem supporting emerging technologies. Officials described the coalition as a framework to strengthen supply chain reliability and advance collaboration in advanced manufacturing and digital capabilities.
The declaration underpinning the initiative emphasises the importance of dependable supply networks for economic security and highlights artificial intelligence as a transformative force shaping long-term growth. It also underlines the need for trusted systems to safeguard shared prosperity and technological development.
Partner nations already associated with the initiative include Australia, Greece, Israel, Japan, Qatar, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. India’s entry follows ongoing efforts by New Delhi and Washington to expand cooperation across technology and economic sectors.
The development is seen as part of broader engagement between the two countries to strengthen bilateral ties through collaboration in advanced technologies, manufacturing and strategic supply chains.
