India and UAE Review Strategic Partnership, Explore Cooperation Across Key Sectors

India and the United Arab Emirates have reviewed their strategic partnership and discussed opportunities to expand cooperation across trade, investment, education, culture and other sectors during a meeting in Mumbai on Tuesday.

India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, during the latter’s working visit to India.

According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions reflected both countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and broadening cooperation to support their development priorities.

The two sides reviewed opportunities under the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. Trade and investment remain important areas of engagement, with both countries seeking to strengthen commercial links and create opportunities for businesses.

The ministers also discussed cooperation in education, culture and heritage, recognising the role of people-to-people exchanges in strengthening relations between the two countries. Their talks covered collaboration within international organisations and preparations for the United Nations Water Conference scheduled to take place in December 2026, which the UAE will host in partnership with Senegal.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on regional and international developments. Both sides emphasised the importance of diplomatic efforts to resolve conflicts peacefully and promote regional and international security and stability.

India and the UAE have developed close economic and strategic ties in recent years. Their partnership spans trade, investment, energy, technology, connectivity and cooperation in multilateral forums. Regular high-level meetings help the two governments review progress and identify areas for further engagement.

The UAE is also an important destination for Indian professionals and businesses, while the Indian community forms a significant part of the country’s population. These people-to-people links add a wider social dimension to the relationship.

The latest meeting underlines the importance both governments place on maintaining regular dialogue and diversifying their partnership. Further progress will depend on the implementation of agreed initiatives and continued engagement between their institutions and businesses.
