Foreign Secretary Shringla,Army Chief Narawane, to visit Myanmar on October 4-5

Chief of Army Staff General MM Narawane and Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla will visit Myanmar on October 4-5. During their visit, the delegation will meet with Myanmar State Councilor, Dao Aung San Suu Kyi and Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces, Senior General Min Aung Hailing.

The visit came on the heels of the Indo-Myanmar Foreign Office consultation held on October 1 via virtual mode. The Indian delegation was led by the Foreign Secretary and the Myanmar delegation was led by Permanent Secretary Yu So Han.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, there have been some direct exchanges between the two sides. The visit will provide an opportunity to stockpile current bilateral ties and strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest. It will also be FS Shringla’s second foreign tour of another important neighboring Bangladesh last month.
