Modi’s Israel Visit Signals Strategic Reset in West Asia Diplomacy
New Delhi/Tel Aviv, 25 February : Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Israel on Wednesday for a two-day visit aimed at further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Prime Minister Modi was received at Ben Gurion Airport by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu. He was accorded a ceremonial welcome on arrival. This marks his second visit to Israel after his landmark 2017 trip.
During the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, and interact with members of the Indian diaspora. He will also hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Netanyahu, with discussions expected to focus on defence, technology, agriculture, water management, artificial intelligence and trade.
In a statement before departing for Israel, Prime Minister Modi said he looked forward to meeting Prime Minister Netanyahu and reviewing cooperation across key sectors. He noted that the visit would provide an opportunity to exchange views on regional and global developments.
According to official sources, several agreements are likely to be discussed to expand collaboration in areas such as security, innovation, talent partnership and economic engagement. Defence cooperation remains a significant pillar of the India-Israel relationship.
Both leaders are also expected to deliberate on developments in West Asia, including the prevailing situation in the region.
India and Israel elevated their ties to a strategic partnership during Prime Minister Modi’s 2017 visit. Since then, bilateral cooperation has expanded across multiple sectors, including defence, scientific research, cybersecurity, agriculture and water technologies.
The visit comes at a time when both countries are seeking to deepen economic and technological engagement while reinforcing longstanding security cooperation.
