India and Armenia Review Cooperation in Trade, AI and Counter-Terrorism

India and Armenia have reviewed their bilateral relationship, including cooperation in trade, investment, science and technology, artificial intelligence, education and counter-terrorism, during the 12th round of Foreign Office Consultations held in New Delhi.

The consultations took place on October 29, with the outcome reported by the Ministry of External Affairs on Friday. The Indian delegation was led by Secretary (West) Sibi George, while the Armenian side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan.

The discussions covered the full range of bilateral engagement, including high-level exchanges, institutional cooperation, economic relations and cultural links. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments and cooperation in multilateral forums.

Trade and investment featured prominently in the discussions, with the two countries exploring ways to expand economic engagement. Science and technology, particularly artificial intelligence, were also included among the areas identified for closer cooperation.

The talks further addressed education, counter-terrorism and people-to-people exchanges. These areas form part of the wider relationship between the two countries, which have maintained regular political and official contacts.

India and Armenia share diplomatic relations that date back to the early years of Armenia’s independence. The two countries will mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027.

The previous round of Foreign Office Consultations was held in Armenia in November 2025. The latest meeting provided an opportunity to review progress since then and identify priorities for the next phase of engagement.

Both delegations agreed that the next round of consultations would be held in Armenia at a mutually convenient date.

The meeting reflects the continued effort by New Delhi and Yerevan to strengthen their partnership through regular diplomatic dialogue and cooperation across economic, technological and security-related areas.

Further progress will depend on follow-up engagements and the implementation of initiatives discussed by the two sides.
