Pabitra Margherita to Represent India at Ibero-American Summit in Spain

Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles Pabitra Margherita is undertaking an official visit to Spain from November 3 to 5 to participate in the 30th Summit of the Ibero-American Conference.

India is participating in the international gathering as an Associate Observer, marking an opportunity to strengthen its diplomatic engagement with countries across Latin America and Europe.

The summit is being hosted by Spain and brings together representatives from the Ibero-American region to discuss cooperation, development and shared international priorities.

The conference currently comprises 22 member countries, including 19 nations from Latin America and three European countries — Spain, Portugal and Andorra. It also includes 12 Associate Observers and 20 Consultative Observers.

During his visit, Margherita is expected to participate in summit discussions and hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from participating countries.

The meetings are expected to provide an opportunity to discuss issues of mutual interest and explore avenues for strengthening cooperation.

The minister will also interact with members of the Indian community in Madrid during the visit.

India’s participation comes amid the ongoing India-Spain Dual Year of Culture, Tourism and Artificial Intelligence, an initiative aimed at expanding bilateral engagement in these areas.

The initiative has placed renewed emphasis on cultural exchanges, tourism promotion and collaboration in emerging technologies.

India and Spain have maintained diplomatic relations and continued engagement through economic, cultural and political channels. India’s participation in the Ibero-American Conference is also expected to provide an opportunity to engage with a wider group of countries.

The summit offers a platform for dialogue on cooperation among participating nations and the development of shared initiatives.

Margherita’s visit is part of India’s continued diplomatic outreach to international groupings and partner countries.

The discussions during the three-day visit are expected to contribute to India’s engagement with Spain and the broader Ibero-American region.
